The Biggest Announcement of All

The vigorous discussion of the preceding post has given me a lot to chew on—but just now I have another fish to fry. I am extraordinarily pleased to be able to tell you that Emily and I are expecting our first child. The little tyke is expected to arrive sometime in mid-January. How the hell do you like that?

At this moment I am simply filled with gratitude.

by Marcel Proust

Slowly, slowly sinking into the astonishingly sensual memory-world of Proust. At forty, I think I'm finally old enough to appreciate it. Reading the Moncrief but I'd like to check out the Lydia Davis translation as well.
